Snapshots
Snapshots are intermediate saves of your project -- like checkpoints you can restore at any time. They complement the standard undo (Cmd + Z) by offering a more durable, named memory.
Automatic snapshots
Scene Cut automatically creates snapshots before certain sensitive operations:
| Event | Snapshot name |
|---|---|
| Importing a subtitle file | "Before SRT/TTML/... import" |
| AI rewrite | "Before AI rewrite" |
| Time offset | "Before time offset" |
| Batch operation | "Before batch edit" |
These safety snapshots let you revert to the previous state if the result of a heavy operation isn't satisfactory.
Creating a snapshot manually
The camera button in the toolbar (with a badge showing the snapshot count) opens the management panel. Clicking the capture button creates a snapshot of the project's current state.
Each snapshot can be renamed for easy identification -- for example "Before act 2 corrections" or "Version approved by client".
Restoring a snapshot
In the snapshots panel, clicking the restore arrow brings the project back to the captured state. Before restoring, a snapshot of the current state is automatically created -- so you can always go forward again if the rollback wasn't what you wanted.
Restoring is also undoable with Cmd + Z.
.scenecut file if it is moved or shared.
