Snapshots

Save checkpoints in your project so you can go back at any time.

Snapshots are intermediate saves of your project -- like checkpoints you can restore at any time. They complement the standard undo (Cmd + Z) by offering a more durable, named memory.

Automatic snapshots

Scene Cut automatically creates snapshots before certain sensitive operations:

EventSnapshot name
Importing a subtitle file"Before SRT/TTML/... import"
AI rewrite"Before AI rewrite"
Time offset"Before time offset"
Batch operation"Before batch edit"

These safety snapshots let you revert to the previous state if the result of a heavy operation isn't satisfactory.

Creating a snapshot manually

The camera button in the toolbar (with a badge showing the snapshot count) opens the management panel. Clicking the capture button creates a snapshot of the project's current state.

Each snapshot can be renamed for easy identification -- for example "Before act 2 corrections" or "Version approved by client".

Restoring a snapshot

In the snapshots panel, clicking the restore arrow brings the project back to the captured state. Before restoring, a snapshot of the current state is automatically created -- so you can always go forward again if the rollback wasn't what you wanted.

Restoring is also undoable with Cmd + Z.

Snapshots are stored in the project file. They persist between sessions and travel with the .scenecut file if it is moved or shared.
