Timing
Subtitle synchronization: reading speed, duration, gaps, snapping, and cascade.
Timing is what makes the difference between amateur subtitling and professional work. A perfectly written subtitle that is poorly timed — too short to read, straddling a shot change, or crammed against the next one — ruins the viewer's experience.
Scene Cut includes a set of tools to get timing right on the first pass, and to quickly fix what isn't.
This chapter covers:
- Timing rules — reading speed, duration, gaps: the fundamentals
- Positioning on the timeline — adjust, move, and snap subtitles with precision
- Autofit and cascade — timing automation tools
