Progress Tracking
On a feature film or a series, subtitling work often spans multiple sessions. The timeline sections, in addition to dividing the project into named zones, serve as a foundation for progress tracking.
The section bar is displayed via the View > Section Bar menu, or with the shortcut Opt + Cmd + B.
The four statuses
Each section can be assigned a status that reflects the state of the work:
| Status | Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| To do | ○ gray | The section has not been worked on yet |
| In progress | ◐ blue | Work is underway on this section |
| Reviewed | ◉ orange | The section has been proofread or revised |
| Done | ✓ green | The section is approved and complete |
Changing a section's status
Right-click a section in the section bar and choose the new status from the context menu. The change is immediate and visible through the section's color on the timeline.
An organizational tool, not a constraint
Progress tracking is purely informational -- statuses have no effect on subtitle content or validation. They are there to help you stay organized, find where you left off, and communicate progress to a supervisor if needed.
