Subtitling a Video

Import media, create subtitles, edit text, and leverage automatic corrections.

This chapter covers the entire subtitle creation process — from importing media to formatting text. Timing and validation are covered in the following chapters.

The typical workflow:

  1. Load a video or audio file
  2. Create subtitles — using the keyboard, mouse, or by importing
  3. Edit the text with auto-correction tools
  4. Format — italic, dialogue, position

Each of these steps is detailed in the following pages.

You can work from an existing subtitle file (SRT, WebVTT, TTML, EBU-STL) by importing it directly — no need to recreate everything from scratch.
